Moving to a New Home on Self-Hosted WordPress!

Wow! I can't believe how quickly we have moved through Summer as we near the Back-to-School Season!

I know I've been pretty quiet here on the blog, but it's only because bigger and better things are ahead. Yes, we're moving the blog to a new home on WordPress! I'm so excited about it because I know you'll love the new things to come.

As I said last month, we've changed the name to The Cross-Cultural Genealogist, and we're about to take a whole new approach to our family histories!

I'll be sharing with you all the great new tricks and techniques I've learned over the past three years preparing my portfolio for the Board for Certification of Genealogists (BCG)! It's not quite done yet, but hopefully I'll be mailing it out sometime within the next six months.

As we approach our moving date, I'll keep you posted more frequently so you know what's going on. I know you're going to love it! And I can hardly wait!!!

Great Changes Are Coming!

In Black and White: Cross-Cultural Genealogy has just entered the beginning stages of transforming into something new and fresh.

As you can see, our name has changed to The Cross-Cultural Genealogist.

Up till now, "cross-cultural" has served as nothing more than a token with no real sense of direction in our blog. And that is about to change!

We're on a journey to fulfill a promise made many years ago when I first started working in family history--and I'm positive you'll enjoy these changes as they develop over the weeks and months to come!

I hope you'll travel with me as we discover what's up ahead on the genealogy trail!

"Where have you been for the past seven months???"

It seems like it's only been a month or two since the Hyman Family Reunion in North Harlowe, Craven, NC...but that was in May 2015...and my last blog post on the white slave owner was written in July 2015.

While contemplating the genealogies of Luke Skywalker and Han Solo, on the evening my husband took me to to see Star Wars Episode VII: The Force Awakens, I received an unexpected call from our cousin, Rosalind. Seems there are two cousins out there who desire for me to work on their family branch for the next Hyman reunion in 2017.

I was so excited!

But, I have yet to hear from anyone.

So family . . . if that might be yourself who is looking for some more roots to your tree, you can contact me via the Contact Me button above. I'm on Gmail and Facebook, or you can leave a message on Hyman Family Descendants group page on Facebook (closed group). If you're not a member yet, send me a message and I'll invite you to join.

In the meantime, I have been revving up on parts 5 (the client report) and 7 (the kinship determination project) of my portfolio for BCG (Board for Certification of Genealogists).

I'm on my second and last extension, and the project is due, in the mail and ready to go on May 30, 2016! This is it! I'm going to do it this year!! [CORRECTION: I am now on my third extension and hope to be done by year's end.]

The goal is certification, then working on some details toward professional development. More on that later...

So, with that in mind, I hope you will excuse the giant hole on the blog.

More to come...
